The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers (GOMEP), Nigeria, has announced a high-profile two-day working tour to Anambra State, scheduled for Friday, June 27 to Saturday, June 28, 2025.
The visit, part of the Guild’s nationwide 2025 Media Project Assessment Tour, will culminate in the presentation of a Governance Excellence Award to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.
The development was contained in an official statement signed by Comrade Dominic Edem, GOMEP’s National Spokesperson and Publisher of Naija News House.
Edem said the visit underscores the Guild’s mission to uphold professional journalism, promote transparent governance, and deepen accountability through independent, fact-based media evaluations.
“Anambra State has distinguished itself as a leader in governance performance and transparency,” Edem stated.
“Based on our 2024 Governance Accountability and Transparency Index (GATI) Report, the state received an Exceptional Performance (EP) rating with an Average Index Score of 86.3, placing it among the top three performing states in Nigeria.”
According to the Guild, the 2025 tour will provide a platform for over 65 accredited online editors and publishers from across the country to engage with local stakeholders, inspect government-led projects, and document the Soludo administration’s development strides across key sectors.
Projects earmarked for inspection span infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment initiatives, with emphasis on assessing how policies translate into measurable improvements in citizens’ lives. The exercise will also serve as a precursor to the 2025 GATI Report, expected to be released later in the year.
The highlight of the two-day engagement, GOMEP confirmed, will be the official presentation of a Governance Excellence Award to Governor Soludo for what it described as his “bold, transparent, and people-centric approach to governance.”
“The award is a testament to the governor’s deliberate focus on accountability, service delivery, and infrastructural transformation,” Edem added.
Governor Soludo had previously been shortlisted alongside nine other state governors for the 2024 GATI Governance Performance Award, reflecting his administration’s consistent high scores in multiple governance indicators.
The Guild reaffirmed its commitment to raising the bar in public service by spotlighting best practices and holding leaders accountable through rigorous, data-driven assessments.
“Our mission remains clear: to elevate the standards of governance in Nigeria by celebrating transparency and confronting mediocrity. Recognition is not a gift; it is earned through measurable impact and responsible leadership,” Edem concluded.
Editor’s Note:
GOMEP’s Governance Accountability and Transparency Index (GATI) is one of Nigeria’s most robust independent evaluations of subnational governance, tracking performance across transparency, budgeting, citizen engagement, and project implementation metrics.
