Daredevil fulanis herdsmen have abducted two farm worker while four and the owner of the farm, Engr. Usiohen Izegbe, narrowly escape death.
The attack occurred on Friday July 16th 2921, in Okha Community in Ovia south west local government area of Edo state.
Speaking to newsmen on his hospital bed, Engr. Izegbe disclosed that they were attacked while working in his farm by the alleged killer herdsmen who took away two of his workers.
According to him, “at about 5:50 pm on Friday, 16th of July 2021 when I got to my farm at Okha Community, Ovia South West local government area, in less than ten minutes, killer herdsmen appeared with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons surrounded my workers and myself.
“Though, four of the workers were able to escape on sighting them, three of us were not lucky enough as they marched us into the bush. It was while we were walking inside the bush that I turned to the opposite direction and started running.
“Some of them followed me and not too long I fell down. That was when they descended on me with their dangerous weapons. It was by the grace of God that I managed to escape from them after sustaining several injuries.
Engr. Izegbe who is still receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital said two of his workers were kidnapped while he was rushed to a nearby hospital in the community by some neighbors who saw him drenched in blood.
He further disclosed that he was stabilized in the hospital before he was moved to another hospital (Undisclosed ) the next day for further examination and treatment while the two workers , (Eric and Solomon, surnames withheld ) who were kidnapped were released four days later after receiving ransom (undisclosed) as demanded.
It is a common knowledge in Nigeria that killer herdsmen have over the years been terrorizing, killing and maiming harmless and defenseless citizens both at home, across the highways and especially in the farms like in the case of Engr. Izegbe and many others.
Thanking God for delivering him and other workers on his farm, Engr. Izegbe appealed to the government and all security agents to immediately intensify efforts at saving lives and properties and ensuring that farmers are not deprived of going to their farms because of the fear of being attacked by killer herdsmen.
