Former President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, amid reports of his arrest, stormed Abuja for a wedding function.
Bukola Saraki on Saturday July 31st 2021, attended the wedding ceremony of Alhaji Shaaba Lafiagi’s daughter in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a tweet by one of Saraki’s close aides, Banks Omisore.
“Dr. @bukolasaraki at the wedding celebration of Alhaji Shaaba Lafiagi’s daughter. Today in Abuja Saturday, 31st July 2021,” Omisore tweeted.
This is coming at a time Saraki was reported to have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It was alleged that Saraki was arrested for money laundering.
The immediate past Senate President was alleged to have used several proxy companies to purportedly launder money.
It was reported that the suspected proxies, who executed some alleged contracts for the Kwara State under Saraki, allegedly made returns for many years to him.
The funds purportedly involved were huge, running into hundreds of millions in naira and hundreds of thousands in foreign currencies at various times.
Saraki was governor of Kwara State for eight years.
