Ahead of rumoured defection of former president Goodluck Jonathan to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential ticket, a former minister of Aviation and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) big short, Femi Fani-Kayode, has dumped PDP to pitch tent with the APC.

Like the Biblical injunction, Fani-Kayode, has acted as the forerunner of Jonathan, to clear the way ahead of his defection to the APC.

Femi Fani-Kayode, anticipating a flurry of attacks for switching from PDP to APC on Thursday attributed his action to God.

After he was formally welcomed to the party by President Buhari, the lawyer and former aviation minister said he was led by the Spirit of God.

Fani-Kayode’s defection was disclosed when Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Caretaker Committee presented him to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was presented to Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.

He said he joined the APC to help in enhancing the unity of the country.

He said he was against anything that would cause the disintegration of Nigeria.

He said whatever opinion anyone may have about his credibility, as a result of his constant change of parties, was up to them.

On Wednesday, Fani-Kayode had moved round some APC governors to discuss his plan to finally ditch PDP.

He was with Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Governor Mai Mala Buni and his friend, Governor Yahaya Bello.

After each meeting, he wrote: “We had a fruitful and productive meeting and we shall continue to work closely together with others from all over the country over the years to build bridges and move our country forward”

On Thursday, he posted a cryptic message on Facebook: On the move.
