Former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp
oration (NNPC), Engr. Andrew Yakubu, and Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) International Golf Club, Abuja, Dr. Peter Deshi, have paid a condolence visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, over the passing of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
Mama Lydia, aged 83, passed away at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
In their tribute, Engr. Yakubu and Dr. Deshi described the late matriarch as a devout Christian, a virtuous leader, and a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
They recalled her selfless contributions to the growth of the church alongside her late husband, Rev. Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau States.
They expressed deep shock at her passing, noting that her death was not only a personal loss to Prof. Yilwatda but also to the APC family in Plateau State and across Nigeria.
“Her demise is painful and devastating, especially at a time when her motherly advice and prayers were most needed,” they said.
They, however, took solace in the legacy Mama Lydia left behind, reflected in her children and her lifelong service to the church, the Women’s Fellowship, and the wider community.
Engr. Yakubu and Dr. Deshi prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and for God’s continued strength and comfort for the Yilwatda family
