#EdoDecides: Obaseki Maintains Lead, As Police Apprehend NYSC Member Over Alleged Electoral Fraud

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate in the Edo State Governorship Election and incumbent goverrnor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, is currently maintaining the lead.

As more results are being released, in Unit 16 Ward 8 Ikpoba-Okha local government area, the APC Governorship Candidate scored 20, while PDP took the lead with 75 votes.

Also, in Unit 15 Ward 8 Ikpoba-Okha local government area APC got 70 while PDP clinched 80 votes.

Similarly, in Hon. Ik Osamede polling unit was delivered for Governor Godwin Obaseki, taking the former governor and former National Chairman of the opposition party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to the public drycleaner.

The results from Hon. Osamede’s Unit 4, ward 8 Egor local government area, has been the most outstanding so far with PDP clinching a total number of 256 against APC’S 68 votes.

But in Orhionwmwon local government area, Abiokunla 1, Polling Unit 012, Ewuare primary school, Ogan 1, believed to be the stronghold of Ize-Iyamu, APC got 94 while PDP scored 79.

YPP scored 1, while ADC got 1 vote with an invalid vote.

Meanwhile, the police has arrested a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving as INEC ad-hoc staff for electoral fraud. 

The  INEC ad-hoc staff was nabbed by security operatives at Ward 4, PU 07, Ekpoma, Esan west local government area of the state for allegedly compromising electoral process.

The ad-hoc staff has been taken to the police station for further questioning over the condemnable act. 

In another development, Comrade Oshiomhole, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission not to compromise the outcome of the 2020 Edo State governorship election, expressing worries about the malfunctioning of card readers at some polling units in the Saturday’s election.
