EASTER: Odii Calls For Renewed Patriotism, National Rebirth

1

At a time when nations are being challenged not only by economic realities but by the resilience of their collective spirit, the Easter message has emerged as a compelling call to hope, sacrifice, and unity.

Speaking in Abuja during the Easter season, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, Charles Odii, reflected on the state of the nation and emphasized the urgent need for a revival of patriotism among Nigerians.

While acknowledging corruption as a persistent challenge, Odii identified a deeper concern, the gradual erosion of national loyalty and civic responsibility.

He noted that no nation can achieve sustainable progress when its citizens lose confidence in its future, disengage from its development, or prioritize personal interests above the collective good.

Drawing inspiration from the essence of Easter, he stressed that just as the season symbolizes sacrifice, renewal, and victory, Nigeria must also experience a moral and civic rebirth, driven by citizens willing to believe again, contribute meaningfully, and act in the interest of the nation.

He urged Nigerians across all sectors, particularly players within the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) space, to rise above skepticism and actively participate in nation-building.

According to him, patriotism is not merely an emotion but a consistent commitment demonstrated through integrity, enterprise, and responsibility.

Reaffirming confidence in the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Odii called on citizens to support ongoing reforms aimed at economic recovery and national growth.

He acknowledged that while the journey may be demanding, the prospects remain bright for a united and determined populace.

He concluded that Nigeria’s transformation will ultimately be driven not only by policies but by a people awakened to their civic duty, motivated by hope and committed to the common good.

As the message of Easter resonates across the country, it delivers a timely call to rebuild not just institutions, but national spirit; not just systems, but trust, anchored on unity, faith, and renewed patriotism as the pathway to a greater Nigeria where the best is yet to come.
