DTHA Member Host NUJ Secretary, Chief Whip, Youth Parliament

The member representing Aniocha north State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, hosted the newly elected Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade (Dcn) Patrick Nweike Ochei, for his well-deserved victory at the just concluded election.

Also hosted, is one of the female parliamentarian representing Aniocha north in the recently inaugurated Delta State Youth Parliament, Hon. Judth Ikedieshi, who doubles as the Chief Whip of the parliament.

The House member expressed thanks to God for the two vibrant Aniocha north youths who have distinguished themselves in the state among the youths.

Speaking in an interview, the State Secretary of NUJ, Comrade Patrick Ochei, expressed joy for being celebrated by their representative at the State House of Assembly.

He promised that the new leadership of the Union would deliver to journalists and Deltans a profession they would be proud of.

Hear him: “When you take a bold step in whatever you are doing and people identify with you, it means you are doing well. For somebody from my own Constituency to want to celebrate me, it is a thing of joy to me”.

Speaking on what journalists should expect from the new leadership of NUJ, Comrade Ochei said: “Deltans should expect a better Union, a better NUJ with capacity to bring about changes in our profession.

“First, what we want to do is to redeem the image of the Union while trying to reposition the Union. And we want a Union where all stakeholders, members and the public will be proud of. So, what we do should reflect what the society desires of us”, he said.

He called on member of the Union to always report objectively while carrying out their duties.

Also speaking, the Honourable member representing Aniocha north cum Chief Whip of the Youth Parliament, Hon. Judith Ikedieshi, said she is honoured, expressing joy for associating with the DTHA member representing the Aniocha north in the State House of Assembly.

“I am so happy for him being my father, he has adopted me. I am his daughter and I am happy to be one associating with him. I am so proud of him, I thank God for him”, assuring that she would do the best in the youth parliament, “the youth should expect nothing but the best and I am still following the footsteps of my honourable”, reiterating that the youths should expect the best.

The two celebrants took to the dancing floor to appreciate God for their emergence as Secretary and Chief Whip, Delta State NUJ and Youth Parliament.

In their separate remarks, they appreciated Hon. Nwaobi and members of his group, “Crusaders”, for the honour accorded them.
