The Delta State Police Command has issued a statement in response to a misleading report published by Sahara Reporters, which falsely claims that the Command has neglected the Presidential directive to withdraw police personnel from VIP duties.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO(, SP Edafe Bright, the Command categorically denies these allegations, asserting that they are unfounded and misleading.

The report in question, which suggests non-compliance by the Delta State Police Command, is based on unverified social media posts that do not accurately represent the Command or the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Specifically, the claim that officers remain attached to an individual identified as Sunny Nwakaego in Sapele is categorically incorrect and should be disregarded.

The Delta State Police Command confirms that there are no personnel assigned to the individual as suggested in the report.

It is important to clarify that on December 12, 2025, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Sapele Division responded to a distress call involving two parties, Precious Itorho and Believe Odorkor, regarding a dispute stemming from a business transaction.

The DPO promptly invited all relevant parties to the station for statements to be recorded, and they were granted bail while the investigation continues.

The Delta State Police Command affirms its full compliance with the Federal Government’s directive, as communicated by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.

This directive mandates the nationwide withdrawal and redeployment of police officers from personal VIP attachments to focus on core policing duties.

The implementation of this directive has been conducted in a structured and professional manner to ensure that public safety is not compromised.

The Delta State Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and continues to implement government policies with professionalism, discipline, and transparency.

We encourage members of the press to verify information with the Police Public Relations Officer before publication to ensure accuracy and accountability.
