The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has joined other legislative leaders in a high-level consultative and validation meeting on the needs assessment report of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria.
The meeting, which took place at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, was convened by the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) in partnership with the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
With the theme “Promoting Good Governance and Citizens’ Access,” the session featured expert presentations, plenary discussions, and goodwill messages, including that of the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria and Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
Rt. Hon. Guwor, who also serves as the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers, commended the initiative, describing it as a timely platform to examine critical reform areas arising from the comprehensive needs assessment conducted across all 36 State Assemblies.
He lauded the contributions of stakeholders and their commitment to strengthening the capacity of State Legislatures, stressing that effective and well-resourced Assemblies are indispensable to advancing democratic governance and national development.
