The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has been conferred with the “Most Outstanding Speaker and Humanitarian Champion” award by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

The award was presented to him in his office in Asaba by the NANS President, Comrade Olushola Oladojo, who was accompanied by national and zonal executives of the students’ body.

Comrade Oladojo said the recognition was in appreciation of the Speaker’s unwavering commitment to quality education and the welfare of students in Nigeria, particularly in Delta State.

He congratulated Guwor on the award and appealed for continued collaboration towards advancing education, stressing that the honour was meant to encourage him to sustain his efforts.

He further commended Guwor’s resilience and consistent support for students, noting that his visit to Delta State was part of a nationwide campus tour he promised during his campaign.

In his response, Speaker Guwor expressed gratitude to NANS for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting youth inclusion in leadership and governance.

He emphasized that student leadership is a vital grooming ground for future leaders who must be prepared to take responsibility in shaping the nation’s future.

“I am a testimony that young people can provide effective leadership. As Speaker, I will continue to represent the voice and interest of Nigerian youths in the legislature,” Guwor assured.

He urged the student body to avoid divisive politics, prioritize unity, and focus on programmes that would empower young people.

While acknowledging past challenges faced by NANS, Guwor expressed optimism that the present leadership would restore the association’s vibrancy.

“I will continue to do my best to make the younger generation proud and to prove that when given opportunities, the youth can excel,” he added.

The highlight of the visit was the formal presentation of the award to the Speaker by the NANS President
