Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has called for renewed commitment among political stakeholders to the unity and advancement of Nigeria.

Guwor made this call on Sunday during the 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly, held at St. Mark’s Parish, Apir, Makurdi.

Speaking as a special guest at the solemn ceremony, the Delta Speaker emphasized the need for collaborative efforts by State Assemblies and other democratic institutions to promote good governance, national cohesion, and lasting development.

Congratulating his Benue counterpart, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, the Principal Officers, and members of the Assembly on the success of their ongoing legislative session, Guwor praised their decision to dedicate the milestone to God, describing the thanksgiving as a worthy recognition of divine guidance in leadership.

“It is a privilege to join my brothers and sisters in Benue in celebrating this important democratic journey.

“The commitment of the Benue lawmakers to effective legislation, representation, and oversight is commendable and worthy of emulation,” he noted.

Clad in traditional Tiv attire in honour of his hosts, the Delta Speaker extended warm wishes for continued progress and legislative impact in the years ahead.

According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, the event also provided an opportunity for Rt. Hon. Guwor to commiserate with the government and people of Benue State over the recent tragic killings in parts of the state. He strongly condemned all forms of violence, urging collective action to end the bloodshed and restore peace.

“We must reject violence in all its forms. I pray that God comforts the bereaved families and grants eternal rest to the souls of the departed,” Guwor stated.

He was accompanied to the event by Hon. Festus Utuama, Member representing Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta Assembly, and several political aides.
