Delta Police To Enforce Tinted Glass Regulations, Reiterate Ban On Illegal Sirens, Defaced Number Plates

Asaba, September 30, 2025 – The Delta State Police Command has announced that it will begin full enforcement of vehicle regulations on tinted glass starting Thursday, October 2, 2025, in line with federal laws and directives.

The Command, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the exercise will be carried out professionally, with respect for constitutional rights and a zero-tolerance approach to abuse.

In addition to the tinted glass clampdown, the Command restated the ban on the unauthorized use of sirens, revolving or strobe lights, and the covering or defacing of number plates by private individuals and non-entitled officials.

“Motorists are reminded to carry their essential vehicle documents, including driver’s licence, insurance, and proof of ownership, and to cooperate courteously with officers during lawful stop-and-search procedures,” the statement read.

Drivers were further advised to ensure their vehicle glass meets legal transparency standards, to remove unauthorized sirens and flashing lights, and to keep number plates clear, legible, and properly affixed at all times.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, stressed that the clampdown is aimed at stopping road intimidation and improving public safety.

He directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to supervise the operations closely and to ensure civility and respect for human rights during enforcement.

Olufemi warned that offenders would face the full weight of the law, urging residents to comply and report any misconduct through the Command’s Complaint Response Unit lines: 09155570008, 09011112311, 09064308018, and 09066575187.
