The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against crime and drug trafficking with the successful rescue of a kidnapped victim, arrest of suspected drug barons, and recovery of large quantities of illicit substances in separate intelligence-driven operations across the state.
Kidnapped Woman Rescued Unhurt
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edafe Bright disclosed that on October 12, 2025, at about 2:00 a.m., armed men broke into the residence of a man (name withheld) in Ovian Aladja, attacking and abducting his wife.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Friday Ekundayo, immediately mobilized operatives of the division and launched a rescue operation.
Following a swift and tactical pursuit, the team tracked the kidnappers to a forest along Iyara community, where the pressure from advancing police operatives forced the abductors to abandon their victim and flee.
The woman was rescued unharmed and reunited with her family, while manhunt efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
Drug Barons Arrested, Stolen Vehicle and Narcotics Recovered
In a separate operation the same day, at about 5:00 a.m., operatives of the Crack Squad, Delta State Command, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a suspected drug distribution hideout at Effurun GRA, leading to the arrest of Igwe Samson (33) and Abalum Sunday (39).
A search of their Toyota Sienna vehicle uncovered a massive haul of 450 bottles of CSP Codeine, 188 bottles of Bargadine, 208 sachets of Tramadol 100mg, 300 sachets of Swinol, 100 sachets of Tramadol 500mg, 50 sachets of Rophynol, and a large quantity of cannabis (weed).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been in the illicit drug trade for about two years, sourcing supplies from Onitsha and operating mostly at night to evade detection.
Police efforts are underway to apprehend their suppliers and distributors.

Reacting to the successful operations, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the professionalism and commitment of the DPO and Crack Squad operatives.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in Delta State through intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and strong community collaboration.
