The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in the fight against violent crime with the arrest of four suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, alongside the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a victim’s vehicle, the syndicate’s operational vehicle, and a network jammer device.
Armed Robbery Syndicate Busted
A release on Monday September 22, 2025, signed by SP Edafe Bright,
the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, Asaba, said: “Acting on credible intelligence, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan Division, CSP Labe Joseph, arrested two suspects, Elvis Ebroghro (36) and Abiola Adegore (34), both residents of Ometan, on September 12, 2025”.
The suspects had earlier threatened a community security guard who caught them attempting to steal a vehicle battery.
Following sustained investigations and a confession from one of the suspects, another key member of the syndicate, Lucky Ebroghro, was apprehended.
A subsequent follow-up operation led to the discovery of an AK-47 rifle hidden inside an isolated building within the Ometan Community, “investigations remain ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang”.
Kidnap Victim Rescued, Suspects Tracked Across States
In a separate operation, the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Squad, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor, rescued a kidnap victim who had been abducted from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku on September 8, 2025.
The victim, who was shot in the leg by his captors despite paying a ransom of ₦2 million, was rescued during a coordinated raid in the Ogwashi-Uku forest.
The squad thereafter launched an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of two suspects, Chukwuebuka Nka (25), from Aniri LGA, Enugu State, and Uche Okechukwu, from Orlu LGA, Imo State, along Owerri Road in Ndemili North LGA, Anambra State.
The victim’s white Toyota Venza SUV was also recovered from them.
Further investigation and confessions led to the arrest of another suspect, Somto Chukwuma (18), from Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, at their hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku.
The operatives also recovered the syndicate’s operational Toyota Matrix (Reg. No. RRT-331-AE) and a sophisticated network jammer device used to disrupt communication during their operations.
CP Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Crime
Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the professionalism and resilience of the officers involved, stressing that Delta State will remain unsafe for criminal elements.
“These arrests and recoveries are clear indications that the Command will continue to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace across our communities.
There will be no safe haven for criminals in Delta State,” CP Abaniwonda stated.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue
