The relentless onslaught against crime and criminality in Delta State has continued to yield positive results as operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) under the Delta State Police Command have uncovered the hideout of suspected ritualists and internet fraudsters, recovering firearms and other incriminating items.

Acting on credible intelligence on October 6, 2025, operatives of the CP-SAT stormed the residence of one Onwugbenu Olisa, now at large, located at Umunye Bypass by Power Line, Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

The team arrested one Okechukwu Okwudili Nwanolue, aged 45, a native of Abala-Obodo community in Aniocha North LGA.

A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of one pump-action gun loaded with three live cartridges, two laptops suspected to be used for internet fraud, a live snail, and fetish items concealed in a shrine within the residence.

Police authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing prime suspect and other accomplices.

In a separate operation, the CP-SAT, acting on credible intelligence about an armed robbery syndicate terrorizing travelers along the Sapele–Warri highway, conducted a swift raid on October 7, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m.

The operatives stormed a criminal hideout at Adheje Community, Sapele Local Government Area, where two suspects, Lucky Tenaera (24) of Okwetolor Community, Sapele LGA, and Prince Emma Esemedafe (38) of Effurun, Uvwie LGA, were apprehended.

Recovered from the suspects were one locally made long gun, eleven ATM cards, and other items linked to their criminal operations. Both suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to unravel the full extent of their activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that criminal elements are flushed out of the state.

He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to the police to aid in proactive crime prevention.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, assured members of the public that the Command remains resolute in maintaining law and order through intelligence-driven and community-based policing strategies.

“These successful operations underscore our determination to rid Delta State of criminal networks and restore public confidence in the police. We will sustain the momentum until every criminal is brought to justice,” SP Bright stated.

The Delta State Police Command continues to call on residents to stay vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
