The Delta State Government, in partnership with Tantita Security Services Limited, has commissioned an eight-classroom block at the Medium Security Correctional Centre, Okere Road, Warri, to strengthen inmate education, rehabilitation, and reintegration efforts.
The facility, constructed and donated by Tantita Security Services, was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Tonukari said the project underscores the state government’s commitment to using education as a transformative tool for rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.
He commended Tantita Security Services for its corporate social responsibility, describing the collaboration as a model for effective government–private sector partnership.
“This initiative demonstrates how education can serve as a bridge between incarceration and reintegration. By equipping inmates with knowledge and skills, we are not only giving them a second chance but also contributing to the overall growth and security of our state,” Prof. Tonukari stated.
He further noted that Governor Oborevwori’s administration places high priority on policies and partnerships that empower citizens through education, adding that the new classrooms would provide inmates with a conducive environment for learning and vocational training.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Ltd., Chief Keston Pondi, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to human capital development and community-focused initiatives.
He emphasized that education plays a vital role in reducing recidivism and fostering peace in society.
The inauguration ceremony highlighted the growing synergy between government and the private sector in Delta State, with stakeholders affirming that the facility will serve as a beacon of hope for inmates seeking rehabilitation and a fresh start in life.
