The interview of the governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, FNIM, with NOL 24 TV has unsettled the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship Candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, The Story can authoritatively report.
Gbagi, a former minister of State for education, who pulled out from the governorship primaries of the PDP said “I visited Sheriff in prison”.
While the PDP was slow in handling the withdrawal of Gbagi, the former Chairman of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, he pitched tent with the SDP to pursue his ambition.
Since Gbagi, a frontrunner in the governorship race, left the PDP, the party has continued to cascade as several bigwigs have defected to join him in SDP.
Analysts believe that this development will heighten the anxiety in the camp of Oborevwori ahead of the general election in 2023.
Reliable sources close to Oborevwori and his godfather, Okowa, said since the interview which has now gone viral, hit the internet, it has set confusion in the party.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man who seems to be a member of the PDP in a video in reaction to Gbagi’s Interview on YouTube, has questioned Okowa, over the claims of Gbagi.
Hear him: “This is to the Honourable Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa. There is a YouTube interview where Chief Kenneth Gbagi, was saying certain things he told you about your preferred governorship candidate, Sheriff.
“If those things are true, why did you go ahead. If those things are true, what could be happening to our great party that we all contributed our own quota in building?
“That is going to put the candidature of the governorship candidate in so much questioning. This is an era of young people and I urge young people, listen to what Kenneth Gbagi, is saying.
“We can say that the man is aggrieved or something but listen that doesn’t change truth. I can be aggrieved, you can be aggrieved anybody can be aggrieved and say certain things but that doesn’t change the substance or the truety of what is being said.
“Ifeanyi Okowa, is it true what Kenneth Gbagi said that he told about Sheriff? Men, if that is true, that is so so serious.
“Young people of Delta State, it’s time we wake up because people cannot keep having things that same way and expect things to change. The world is moving on and we are basically having nothing.
“Ifeanyi Okowa, if Kenneth Gbagi told you what he claimed to have said in that YouTube video that you were told, then this is serious … (Spoke language).
“It is so sad dnd it is for young people. Enough of people buying and telling you to give you anything to vote for them. Enough! Young people of Delta State, from Delta North, Delta South and Delta Central and every space of the Delta Senatorial Districts, we all need to walk away from cash and carry politics.
“We need to listen to these candidates, we need to check their antecedents, their history and hear more because something is not right. People should stop toying with the destinies of our people particularly young people.
“Wake up! Wake up. Time is running and it’s of the essence. Kenneth Gbagi’s Interview on YouTube is something everybody should go listen through. You all should listen through it and listen to it.
“What he said about Sheriff and what he said about Onyeme, something that is so explosive, you all need to hear that”, he said.
