Collapsed Ikoyi 21 Storey Building Owner Found Dead

Emerging reports have it that Femi Osibona, the owner of the firm in charge of the collapsed Ikoyi building, is dead.

Emergency responders at the site on Thursday, November 4, were able to recover the body of Osibona.

It was also confirmed that the lifeless body of the real estate tycoon has been taken to a morgue in Lagos.

Chief Executive Officer of Fourscore Homes Limited, the company in charge of the collapsed 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday, has been confirmed dead.

Daily Trust and Vanguard report that rescue workers who spoke with journalists said his corpse was recovered from the rubbles on Thursday, November 4.

However, there is no confirmation as to when actually the lifeless body of Osibona was discovered or rescued from the rubble.

A team of emergency responders recovered the body and has taken it to a mortuary in the state.

The Nation confirmed that the deceased body was identified by operatives of the ministry of physical planning before it was evacuated in an ambulance.

Earlier, there were growing fears that Femi Osibona, the owner of Fourscore Homes, the firm in charge of the building which collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos, was somewhere trapped in the rubble.

So far, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have no update on his whereabouts.

It was gathered that Osibona’s car was parked at the premises on Monday, November 1, when the tragedy happened.

His phone lines were not reachable as calls have been made to him to ascertain if he is still alive. 

A source who spoke with journalists said: “There is every indication he was trapped there. His car was parked at the site. His calls are no longer going.”

Meanwhile, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos state, had suspended the general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Oki.

The governor vowed to find out what went wrong and punish those indicted in the collapsed 21-storey building under construction in Ikoyi.

Legit.ng gathered that Governor Sanwo-Olu made this Known in a statement released by the commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, on Tuesday, November 2.
