As Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, marks his 58th birthday, accolades have continued to pour in, with the National Consensus Movement of Nigeria commending his transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to national security.
In a goodwill message signed by its President, Dr. Awwal Aliyu Abdullahi, the group lauded General Oluyede for his strategic and proactive approach to addressing the nation’s security challenges, noting that his tenure has ushered in a new era of professionalism, discipline, and renewed operational efficiency within the Nigerian Army.
“Since his appointment, General Oluyede has spearheaded a robust security agenda that has significantly improved the Army’s operational capabilities through enhanced training, infrastructural upgrades, and improved troop welfare,” Dr. Awwal stated.
He highlighted the COAS’s strides in strengthening Civil-Military Cooperation, inter-agency collaboration, and inter-governmental engagement as critical tools in Nigeria’s counter-insurgency and anti-crime strategies.
These efforts, he said, have not only reinforced national unity but also elevated public confidence in the Nigerian Army.
“Under his leadership, the Army has witnessed a remarkable shift in tactical discipline, behavioral orientation, and combat readiness. His reform-driven administration has redefined the Nigerian Army’s image, both within and beyond its operational theatres,” the statement read.
Dr. Awwal also praised General Oluyede’s personal visits to security flashpoints in Jos and Benue State, where he met with field commanders and community members, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to peace and national stability.
“Such engagements reflect a leadership that is not only strategic but also empathetic—one that prioritizes the safety and confidence of the Nigerian people,” he said.
The group also acknowledged the COAS’s attention to the welfare of personnel, citing the approval of critical infrastructural interventions in barracks, improved logistics, and comprehensive support packages for soldiers and their families.
“As General Oluyede turns 58, we celebrate a visionary leader whose impact is already visible in the transformation of the Nigerian Army and the renewed morale among troops on the frontlines,” Dr. Awwal said.
The National Consensus Movement of Nigeria extended heartfelt birthday wishes to the Army Chief, praying for his continued good health, wisdom, and fortitude to steer the military to greater achievements.
“We remain confident that under his stewardship, the Nigerian Army will continue to play a pivotal role in securing the nation and building lasting peace. Happy 58th birthday to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede,” the statement added
