A prominent Abuja-based entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, has issued a stern legal warning to several online media platforms, demanding a full retraction, public apology, and compensation for what she described as a coordinated campaign of defamation.
In letters dated June 25 and 26, 2025, and dispatched through her legal team at Law Corridor, Dr. Tejuosho accused First Weekly Magazine, Ivory NG, Mega News Nigeria, News Online Nigeria, and TheMomentNG.com of publishing false and damaging reports alleging that she was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for impersonating an aide to the National Security Adviser and engaging in fraudulent appointment and contract scams.
The reports, which Dr. Tejuosho described as baseless and malicious, claimed she had been recommended for prosecution on charges including Advance Fee Fraud and Criminal Breach of Trust. Her lawyers strongly denied all allegations, insisting there is no record of arrest, indictment, or legal proceedings against her related to any such claims.
According to the legal notices, the reports were published without any attempt to verify the facts or seek Dr. Tejuosho’s side of the story—actions the legal team described as reckless and injurious. They maintained that the publications inflicted serious reputational harm, disrupted her professional relationships, and caused her significant emotional distress, as she continues to receive concerned and suspicious inquiries from associates and clients.
The legal team is demanding immediate retractions and written apologies to be published on the respective websites of the implicated outlets, as well as in three national newspapers. They also seek the sum of ₦100 million in damages as compensation for the reputational and psychological harm caused.
Failure to meet these demands within 24 hours, the notice warns, will result in the initiation of legal proceedings, with Dr. Tejuosho set to seek ₦1 billion in general, aggravated, and punitive damages from each media outlet involved.
As of the time of this report, none of the named media platforms had issued a retraction or publicly responded to the allegations.
