Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has called on members of the Kogi State House of Assembly to give his successor, Governor Usman Ododo, unreserved and unquestioned support in all legislative matters.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Bello is seen addressing legislators, urging them to approve every proposal brought before them by the governor.
“As you are going in there now, go and cooperate with the Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly of Kogi State, and be part of those who support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“Are you getting my point? In everything that comes to the Assembly, everything, everything, even if you don’t understand,” Bello told the lawmakers.
Governor Ododo, Bello’s political protégé, assumed office in January 2024 after serving as Auditor-General for Local Governments.
Meanwhile, Bello remains embroiled in multiple corruption cases filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He is facing allegations of misappropriating more than ₦80 billion in state funds, involving luxury property acquisitions in Abuja and Dubai, as well as the payment of foreign school fees through proxies.
The development has further stoked debates about governance, accountability, and the influence of former governors over their successors.
