Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has announced that he will officially defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, a political shift that is poised to redefine the State’s power structure.
Speaking in Jalingo, Governor Kefas described the move as a strategic, destiny-driven decision aimed at repositioning Taraba for accelerated development and strengthened unity.
He stressed that his defection is not rooted in personal ambition but in what he believes to be the best pathway for the State’s long-term progress.
Dr. Kefas noted that the political realignment is designed to secure greater opportunities for Taraba, ensuring the State aligns more effectively with national forces shaping Nigeria’s development trajectory.
Ahead of the high-profile event, the Governor inspected the Jolly Nyame Stadium, the selected venue for the defection ceremony.
The stadium is expected to host an unprecedented crowd, including political heavyweights, members of the Governor’s Executive Council, newly elected Local Government Chairmen, and thousands of supporters.
The ceremony is anticipated to attract major figures from within and outside the State, marking one of the most significant political developments in Taraba in recent years.
