Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, addressed recent political turmoil during the inauguration of eight new High Court judges at the Government House in Port Harcourt on September 20, 2024.
In his remarks, Fubara recounted how his administration began with unity but later faced a political crisis aimed at his removal.
The governor emphasized that, despite the challenges, his administration has emerged stronger, referring to the current phase as a “rebirth” for Rivers State.
He noted, “Good things do not come by so easily… sometimes things will get bad before they eventually become better.”
Fubara expressed gratitude towards the judiciary, acknowledging their resilience during the crisis.
According to The Nation, he urged the newly appointed judges to uphold justice and integrity, stating, “Discharge your duty with the fear of God.
Stand for what is right, and that is the only way God will elevate you.”
He assured the judges of his administration’s support to enhance their work and encouraged them to work respectfully with their senior colleagues.
The newly inaugurated judges include Justice Frank Onyiri, Justice Victor Chinedum Ugoji, and Justice Godswill Vidal Obomanu, among others.
Fubara concluded with a call for unwavering commitment to justice, stressing the importance of the judiciary in providing hope for the voiceless citizens of Rivers State.
