Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has extended an invitation to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, along with other lawmakers for a crucial meeting.

The meeting is set to take place at the Governor’s Office in the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Monday, March 10, 2025.

This development was disclosed in a letter dated March 7, signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo.

“I hereby write in furtherance of His Excellency’s promise stated in my letter dated March 5, 2025, to notify you that His Excellency has received the Supreme Court judgment and has therefore directed me to invite you and your colleagues, the Honourable members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, to a meeting,” the letter partly read.

According to the SSG, the discussions will focus on securing a suitable venue for Assembly sittings, settling outstanding remuneration and allowances for lawmakers, and addressing other pressing legislative matters.

Additionally, the agenda will include the presentation of the state budget and other key issues aimed at fostering progress in the oil-rich state.

“Sequel to the above, I hereby humbly invite the Rt. Hon. Speaker and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to a meeting with the Governor as follows:

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:00am, office of the Governor, Government House, Port Harcourt.

“Many thanks, Sir, as we look forward to your kind attendance in the interest of the good people of Rivers State.”

Political analysts suggest that during the meeting, Fubara is expected to address the following key issues including arranging a suitable venue for the Assembly’s sittings, settling all outstanding remuneration and allowances for the Honourable members, presenting the state budget and discussing other related matters and addressing any additional issues necessary to chart a progressive path for the state.
