The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed an explosion at the Bagudo General Hospital early this morning, causing significant damage to the staff quarters and triggering panic in the area.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, security agencies swiftly secured the scene to prevent further threats. He assured the public that the police are in full control of the situation following the explosion.
A joint security team, comprised of police, military, and vigilante personnel, cordoned off the area, while specialists in Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) were dispatched to assess the site.
Usman confirmed that, thankfully, there were no casualties.
He noted that the building within the staff quarters was damaged, but the occupants had evacuated safely prior to the explosion.
The police continue to monitor the situation and are conducting further investigations into the cause of the explosion. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
