The candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), for Delta South Senatorial District in the February 25th National Assembly (NASS) election, Evangelist Michael Diden, also known as Ejele, has lost at the Appeal Court, Lagos Division.
The Court upheld the election of Joel Thomas-Onowakpo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) whose election voided and declared inconclusive by the National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Asaba, Delta State.
During its sitting in Asaba, the tribunal declared the February 25 election inconclusive and ordered a re-run within 90 days in Warri South Local Government Area.
The tribunal had earlier declared Michael Diden of the Peoples Democratic Party eligible to contest the election.
However, in its judgment on Wednesday November 1st 2023, Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of the appellate court set aside the judgment of the tribunal and upheld the victory of Onowakpo at the poll
