The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
In a statement on Saturday June 10th 2023, by the Public Relations Officer Peter Afunanya, confirmed the arrest of Emefiele.
The secret police had initially denied through a release on Saturday morning that Godwin Emefiele, was not in their custody.
But in a U-turn, DSS said the suspended CBN governor is now in their custody.
The statement confirming the arrest of Emefiele reads:
PRESS RELEASE
EMEFIELE, NOW IN DSS CUSTODY
The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.
