It was gathered that the members of the Taskforce were attacked by the youth for entering the Ughelli main market which the youths have taken as their “work shop” just they warned the Taskforce to off their “Oil well”.
Members of the Taskforce that got injured are: Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Sunny lghokenana Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to State Governor, Mr Desmond, Head of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) Ughelli north, Comrade Ejiro Ekwerare, Comrade Kpohraror Emmanuel, Media Aide to Executive Chairman of Ughelli north, police officers attached to the Taskforce and others.
It was learnt that on receiving the news of the attack, the Chief Security Officer of the local government, whose name could not be ascertained at press time, placed a call to the Area Commander, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the local Vigilante group in the area for an urgent meeting for the next Lin of action.
It would be recall that the Committee was recently inaugurated by Chief Godwin Adode, the Ughelli north local government chairman, in a bid to battle the increasing number of Coronavirus in the area.
