Bauchi politics was thrown into mourning on Saturday following the death of the Chairman of Dambam Local Government Council, Yakubu Garba Tela, after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Bala Mohammed described the late Tela as a rare breed of public servant, a grassroots mobiliser, and a community leader whose life was dedicated to service.

He noted that the deceased would be remembered for his humility, unwavering commitment to duty, and the visible impact he made in Dambam Local Government.

The news of his passing has left his colleagues in shock, with council chairmen across the state grieving the loss of one of their own.

Many described his death as a painful blow not just to Dambam but to the collective leadership of local government in Bauchi.

Funeral prayers for the late chairman are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. today at Misau Central Mosque, where family, friends, and political associates are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
