Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, has visited a bandit enclave in Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
Leading top government officials and security personnel, the governor first paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Emir of Duguri, Adamu Mohammed, where the community has repeatedly come under attack by bandits and kidnappers.
From the palace, the governor proceeded to Kafin Duguri, where it was confirmed that four persons were killed and several others seriously injured after bandits, riding on over 100 motorcycles, invaded the community.
Addressing residents, Governor Mohammed declared that there is no room for banditry in Bauchi State, stressing that success in tackling the menace depends largely on the cooperation of local communities.
He further disclosed that more indigenes of the state would be recruited into the services of vigilante groups and local government security guards to enhance the protection of lives and property.
Also speaking, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Omolorin, who was part of the entourage, appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies in addressing the security challenges.
In his remarks, the Emir of Duguri, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, appreciated the governor for the visit and commended the people of Kafin Duguri for their resilience in safeguarding their community.
