The female student identified as Abdulrahman Safau Omowumi, was said to have been matcheted to death after she was gang raped around Gerewu area of Illorin, the capital of the state.
The 20-year-old girl, it was gathered left the house on Saturday about 4:00pm, but didn’t return, a situation which prompted her family to report her missing case to the police.
It was learnt that her lifeless body was recovered close to Oko-Oba River in the village of Gerewu.
It was gathered that there were cuts suspected to be from matchetes on her head and signs of rape.
Her corpse has been deposited at the Ilorin General Hospital morgue.
