One person has been crushed to death in a fatal accident which occured along the Ilesa-Akure expressway on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Osun Sector Command, the accident occured at Erin-Oke gate, a distance of 20 kilometres from the Iwaraja junction.
The multiple accident, which involved four vehicles, a white Mazda Bus with registration number, AME 315 XB, an ash colour IVECO truck with registration number, AYE 210 ZQ, an ash colour Volkswagen Carvellego bus with registration number, SSU 354 XA and an ash colour truck was caused by speed violation and loss of control.
Out of the seven males, a female adult and one child involved in the accident, five male adults and the lone child escaped with bruises and fractures.
The dead passenger died as a result of being crushed by one of the trucks after he fell off the white Mazda bus he was travelling in.
The FRSC stated that the injured were taken to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa for treatment, while the lone corpse was deposited at the morgue of the hospital.
The FRSC, Osun Sector Command, through its spokesperson, Agnes Ogungbemi called on motorists to always maintain the approved speed limits as they drive around the country during this festive period.
She also asked motorists to ensure that their vehicles were thoroughly serviced and maintained at all times, especially before embarking on long-distance journeys.
She asked drivers to ensure they adhered to all the road safety signals and obey traffic and road signs at all times.
Separately, in another accident, two male adults escaped with their lives as their white Volkswagen bus, with registration number KRD910YA was involved in a lone accident.
The road traffic crash, which occurred on Thursday morning at Balogun axis, about 9 kilometres to the Sasa Bridge along the Gbongan-Ibadan expressway, occurred as a result of over speeding and a burst tyre.
The scene of the crash was immediately cleared of obstruction by personnel of the Osun Sector Command of the FRSC, while the Ikire Divisional Command of the Nigeria Police has secured the crashed vehicle in their station.
