The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Ned Nwoko as Chairman of the Protocol Subcommittee for its forthcoming National Convention, assigning the Delta North senator a key operational role in the party’s preparations for the high-profile political gathering.
The appointment places Senator Nwoko at the centre of critical planning and coordination for the convention, reflecting the party’s commitment to ensuring strong organisational structure, efficient logistics and strict adherence to procedural guidelines as it moves toward the event.
Within the APC’s constitutional framework, the National Convention serves as a major platform for taking important decisions on party leadership, policy direction and structural adjustments, while also reinforcing internal unity among members and stakeholders.
The Protocol Subcommittee, which Senator Nwoko will head, plays a central role in managing the logistical and ceremonial aspects of the convention.
Its responsibilities include overseeing accreditation processes, coordinating the movement and seating of delegates and dignitaries, and ensuring that the proceedings comply with established rules and guidelines governing the convention.
Other members of the subcommittee include Abba Bello as Co-Chairman, Kalifat Obama as Vice Chairman, Mary Ekpere as Secretary, and Ibori-Suenu Erhiatake as Assistant Secretary.
Additional members are Hussaini Namadi Abdulkadir, Prince Wali Wosu, Chidiebere Oku-Worlu, Aminu Sani Jaji and Bello Kaoje.
The composition of the committee brings together individuals with legislative, legal and political experience, positioning the team to handle the complex operational demands associated with organising a national political convention.
Beyond ceremonial duties, the Protocol Subcommittee is tasked with coordinating key logistical elements such as delegate accreditation, seating arrangements, movement protocols for party leaders, governors, lawmakers and invited guests, as well as collaboration with security agencies and other convention committees to maintain order throughout the event.
Given the scale of APC national conventions, which typically attract thousands of delegates and observers from across the country, the efficiency of the protocol unit is considered essential to the overall success and credibility of the gathering.
Senator Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, brings to the position a combination of legal expertise, legislative experience and administrative exposure.
Party leaders say his appointment reflects confidence in his capacity to provide effective coordination and structured oversight in a politically sensitive environment.
The forthcoming APC National Convention is widely viewed as a significant milestone for the party as it seeks to consolidate its structures and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of future electoral contests.
As preparations intensify, attention will focus on how the various convention committees execute their responsibilities, particularly in ensuring smooth accreditation, effective time management, coordinated participation of dignitaries and strict compliance with party regulations.
Senator Nwoko’s leadership of the Protocol Subcommittee therefore represents both a key administrative assignment and a vote of confidence by the party hierarchy as the APC prepares for one of its most important internal gatherings.
