…commends Tinubu’s leadership as bold, result-oriented
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has declared that his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) is already translating into tangible benefits for the state, citing improved governance outcomes and stronger federal alignment.
The governor made this known while addressing journalists at the party’s National Elective Convention held at Eagle Square on Friday night. He described the gathering as evidence of the APC’s expanding influence and growing nationwide appeal.
Reflecting on his April 28, 2025 defection, Oborevwori said the move was strategic, aimed at positioning Delta State closer to the federal government for enhanced access to resources and developmental opportunities.
“I am delighted to be here. The decision we took on April 28, 2025, is already yielding results. We made that move to connect with the centre, and today, that connection is working. Other governors have since followed the same path,” he stated.
He noted that increased allocations to states have significantly boosted their capacity to meet financial obligations, including salary payments and project execution, describing the development as a positive shift from previous challenges.
According to the governor, the economic policies of President Tinubu are gradually producing results despite initial difficulties.
“We understand the challenges Nigerians are facing, but these reforms take time. The policies are beginning to yield results. Today, states are better positioned to pay salaries and meet contractual commitments,” he said.
Oborevwori further pointed to the growing number of APC governors as a testament to confidence in the current administration, noting that the party now controls 31 states, a historic milestone since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
“The turnout here reflects strong support for Mr President. He is focused, courageous, and steering the country in the right direction. We believe Nigerians will reciprocate by re-electing him in 2027,” he added.
Highlighting achievements of his administration, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining progress across key sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.
He also disclosed improvements in oil production within the state, attributing the rise to enhanced security and the absence of attacks on oil facilities.
“Delta State remains the leading oil-producing state, and we are committed to doing even more for our people,” he said.
The governor called on residents to continue supporting both the federal and state governments, assuring them of sustained efforts to improve living standards and deliver meaningful development.
