The incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has recorded a resounding victory at his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election, securing an overwhelming margin over his opponents.
Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), voted at Polling Unit 002, Ofiyi Square, Isuofia Ward, in Aguata Local Government Area.
According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presiding officer after sorting and counting, Governor Soludo polled 417 votes, leaving his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with only four votes, while the ACCORD candidate scored one vote.
Out of 933 registered voters, 430 were accredited, with 422 valid votes recorded and eight declared invalid.
The election process at the polling unit was briefly interrupted after the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) malfunctioned toward the end of the exercise, forcing the presiding officer to close voting earlier than scheduled.
Some intending voters expressed disappointment after being unable to cast their ballots due to the technical issue.
However, the challenge did not affect the collation process, as sorting and counting continued smoothly before the results were officially declared at the unit.
