Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has reaffirmed his administration’s bold vision to position Anambra as the technology and tourism capital of West Africa, while also transforming it into a national model of innovation, governance, and sustainable development.

Speaking in Awka during an interactive session with members of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG), Governor Soludo highlighted the strides recorded by his administration in under three years, noting that Anambra is undergoing a historic transformation driven by purpose, planning, and people-centered governance.

“Anambra is fast becoming a destination for innovation, leisure, and governance excellence. From infrastructure to digital development, we are redefining what’s possible,” he said.

The Governor proudly referenced flagship projects such as the Awka Fun City, which he described as the most advanced leisure park in the region.

“The Awka Fun City is not only the best in Nigeria but rivals some of the finest across Africa. In terms of structure, purpose, and visitor experience, it stands alone,” Soludo remarked.

He also announced that the GOMEP team’s visit to the current Governor’s Lodge would be their last, as the state government is preparing to move into the newly constructed Anambra Government House, popularly known as the Light House.

“For 34 years, governors have operated from this temporary lodge. But that era is ending. I’m packing up. The next time I host you, it will be in the Banquet Hall of the Light House,” he said to enthusiastic applause.

The Light House, according to Governor Soludo, is a sprawling 23-acre campus featuring 56 completed structures, designed to reflect the identity of a modern, future-ready Anambra State.

He described it as a symbolic and functional centerpiece of his administration’s commitment to excellence, stability, and forward-thinking leadership.

In a lighter moment that drew laughter and applause, the Governor made a case for local patronage and economic nationalism with a witty cultural reference:

“Any beer not brewed in Anambra is not near, it’s just a chemical,” he joked, in an effort to champion local production and boost indigenous enterprises.

Governor Soludo concluded by reaffirming his belief in the boundless potential of Anambra, and his administration’s resolve to build a livable, prosperous homeland that can compete globally, not just in policy and infrastructure, but also in innovation, culture, and enterprise
