“I would suggest that the Bauchi State Governor should be stripped of his immunity and be made to face trials for inciting herdsmen to carry AK47 with immediate effect”, a Chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, said.
Chief Onuesoke, a PDP juggernaut in an exclusive interaction with The Story, on Friday 12th February 2021, who earlier distant himself from the rumour making the rounds, said the governor should have known the weight of his statement before uttering such.
Hear him: “I do not want to believe that the governor of Bauchi said so because he should have known the implications of such an executive utterances from a seating governor of a state in Nigeria. I think the governor is quoted out of context”.
Speaking further, Onuesoke, who recall the statement of Prof. Itse Sagay, wondered where Nigeria as a country was heading to.
“If he said so, it therefore mean that Prof. Itse Sagay is right by saying every Nigerian should be entitled to his or her personal gun for the sole purpose of self defense.
“By the way, where is the country heading to? Is it because we have no national leadership by the APC government in Abuja? Or what is going on? Have we so degenerated to the extent that a state governor will encourage herdsmen to carry gun?
“Since when has herdsmen become national property. Must we fight to disintegrate or cause mayhem before we could go our ways. Are we really one nation bound together in Unity, Faith and Peace? Onuesoke queried.
It would be recall that Mohammed, said Fulani herders carry AK-47 for self-defence because cattle rustlers are attacking them just as he slammed his Benue counterpart, Samuel Ortom, over his handling of the farmer-herder clashes, leading to loss of lives.
