It was gathered that the kidnapped Chinese and his colleague were the contractors handling Iyin Road in the area when they were attacked.
It was learnt that the police officer guarding the expatriates was shot dead on the spot, giving access to the kidnap of one while the other sustained various degree of injuries in the Commando attack.
Trouble started on Friday 27th November 2020, in the evening, at the end of the new road when the hoodlums successfully waylaid the expatriates and abducted one, whilethe other sustained wounds from gunshots.
According to reports, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, disclosing that operatives are combing the forest to ensure the safe rescue of the expatriate.
“It’s confirmed that a kidnapping incident occurred today at about 4:30 pm along new Ado-Iyin road where one civilian was kidnapped, one shot while one policeman was shot dead.
“Our operatives are already combing the forest for possible apprehension of the perpetrators.
“The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Tunde Mobayo, enjoins everyone to be calm and avoid any form of apprehension as the Command will do everything possible to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits.” he said.
