Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to the party and declared his intention to once again vie for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
Obi made this known during his visit to Anambra State, where he joined George Moghalu, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, in rallying support ahead of the upcoming November governorship election.
Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic supporters in his native Igbo language, Obi dismissed rumours suggesting he had dumped the Labour Party, insisting he remains a loyal member and is fully committed to the party’s future.
“I have not left the Labour Party. Others have the right to run for office, but if anyone asks you, tell them I am running — and I am the most competent of them all,” Obi said, drawing applause from the audience.
Obi’s endorsement of George Moghalu and his reaffirmed presidential ambition appear to have reinvigorated the Labour Party base in Anambra, as party faithful cheered what many described as a sign of unity and renewed momentum within the party.
As the 2027 political season gradually takes shape, Obi’s statement sets the tone for what is expected to be a fiercely contested race, one in which he is positioning himself once again as a leading figure.
