…say choice will promote unity, love, peace

Delta State Social Democratic Party (SDP), Governorship Candidate, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, has hailed the decision of the party and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for picking their presidential candidates from the southern part of Nigeria.

He said that singular decision has rubbished the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for zoning the presidency to the north against the Asaba declaration where the governors under the platform of the Southern Governors Forum agreed that the presidency should be zoned to the south.

Speaking to journalists after the presidential primary of the party held at the International Conference Centre Abuja, the former minister of State for education, said the act is in line with the principles of equity, justice and fair play.

He said the choice of SDP, the longest surviving political party in the country and the APC was in the direction of what the northern governors clamoured for.

He pointed out that it was the principle of moving the presidency round the zones that has brought peace, unity and love.

The largest private investor thanked the political class of the two parties for allowing the south to produce the presidential candidates of the major political parties.

According to him, the choice of SDP and APC candidates coming from the south for the 2023 presidential race would help to entrench zoning of the seat on the basis of geopolitical zones.

He congratulated the presidential candidates of SDP, Prince Adebayo Adewale and APC, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their emergence as flag bearers of their parties.
