Presidential aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have arrived at the State House, Abuja to hold a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari who returned from an ECOWAS extraordinary summit in Ghana, hours ago, would meet with the 23 presidential aspirants under the ruling party.

They include former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, former minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Godswill Akpabio, and Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa).

Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, former House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, and serving senators Ibikunle Amosun, Ajayi Boroffice, and Rochas Okorocha.

It was gathered that the purpose of the meeting would be centred around picking a consensus candidate and other things.

According to reports President Buhari might announce his preferred candidate during the meeting.

A source privy to the meeting disclosed that the real APC Convention would be held this night at the Villa, stressing that the Tuesday’s Coronation would be a mere gathering.

Meanwhile, APC governors from the north have asked President Buhari to look toward the southern presidential hopefuls when considering his successor.

The governors released a statement to this effect after a meeting on Saturday.

They asked the northern presidential hopefuls to withdraw from the race in national interest.
