Health Minister Commissions Capital Projects At FMC Asaba

To attend to the health needs of Deltans and people around the environ, the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, has embarked and completed some capital projects in the tertiary health institution.

The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora in his address on Friday 19th March 2021, listed the projects to include Molecular Biology Laboratory, 15 room Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 40 room house officers’ quarters and seminar room and 17 room guest house at the premises of the hospital, saying that “These projects are landmark projects”.

He applauded the management of the hospital for their resourcefulness in delivering such high quality projects, pointing out that the president Mohammadu Buhari administration has put into the improvement of the health sector for improved healthcare delivery to be accessed, afforded by all Nigerians.

The Health Minister eulogized the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), for facilitating and funding the construction of the Molecular Biology Laboratory in the hospital, revealing that the NCDC in tandem with the federal ministry of health and the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 pandemic have always given a positive and adequate response to the management of the pandemic.

“This Molecular Biology Laboratory is one of the many laudable responses of the federal government to effectively tackle the effects of the pandemic”.

He charged the management and staff of FMC, Asaba, to always ensure that they discharge the duties of their offices adequately and effectively to all the good people of the state and environs in order to justify the massive Investment the federal government has put into the development and improvement of the country’s health services.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Victor Osiatuma commeded the Federal and Delta State governments for successfully assisting to complete the projects.

He said, the hospital, had transformed very masively and quickly to render healthcare services to the people despite that it took off from the premises of the old General Hospital, Asaba, with old buildings and equipment unbefitting of a tertiary health Institution.
