The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), said 21 new cases were recorded in Delta State between July 19th and 20th 2022.
The new cases raised the total number of affected persons in the state to 5, 487 cases in the state.
The state government seemed to have lowered the various preventive measures and protocol, like wearing a facemask, washing of hands, keeping of distance etc as they are no longer observed in functions and public places.
Painstaking effort to get the current COVID-19 status of the state, number of affected victims, places of isolation centers, number of death and discharged from the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye, was abortive.
At press time, call and text message sent to his cellphone were rebuffed.
Meanwhile, the Center disclosed that the country recorded a total number of 235 new confirmed cases between 19th and 20th of July 2022.
While Lagos State, has 138 cases,
Rivers recorded 36, Delta recorded 21, Kaduna got 17 cases, FCT 13, Edo 9 and Kano State recorded just one case.
Three States in the country, Abia, Nasarawa, and Sokoto reported zero cases.
The agency revealed that the country has 259,720 confirmed cases, 253,074 discharged and
3,146 deaths since the outbreak in Nigeria, in 2020.
It would be recall that the Federal Ministry of Health first confirmed a Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case on 27th of February 2020, in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The case, which was confirmed on the 27th of February 2020, is the first case to be reported in Nigeria since the outbreak in China in January 2020.
