Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, disclosed that a private funeral would be done in honour of his late father, Chief Okorie Uzoma Okowa, who died at the age of 88 years.

Okowa, made the disclosure via his verified Facebook page while appreciating Nigerians for the show of love when the family lost their father.

Hear him: “”In this regard, we will be holding a private funeral for our patriarch sometime this month, with a fuller ceremony to celebrate his life later in August — due to the #COVID19 pandemic.

“As a family, we will greatly miss his physical fellowship, but we thank the Almighty God that he lived a good and full life.

“On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank all our friends and well-wishers across the country that have taken the time to commiserate with us on the death of my beloved father, Sir Arthur Okorie Okowa.

“Since Papa passed away, my siblings and I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of goodwill from a wide spectrum of political, business and religious leaders — as well as the countless other Nigerians who have commiserated with us.

“Our late father was a strong pillar of support. In everything that my siblings and I have done over the years, we always drew immeasurably from his fountain of wisdom. He too was also extremely passionate about the growth and development of our beloved Delta State.

“Again, thank you all for the calls, the visits, the prayers and the statements in solidarity with our family”, he added.
