The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration under Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, also noted that there were other forms of assistance given to the state, disclosing that the state was also expecting other assistance from the federal government.
The State Commissioner of Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, made the disclosure Thursday while briefing journalists on decisions of the state government on lockdown relaxation.
He said the state has 1, 780 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with over 1, 600 discharged patients leaving less than 180 active cases.
According to him, the home care approach adopted by the state, yielded positive results, stating that the Covid-19 curve has come down compared to the earlier time.
He revealed that individuals have also find out how to coup by way of taking some measures, while health givers also worked hard to fight the dreaded pandemic.
He disclosed that the state government has decided to relax the lockdown on operators of movie and cinema houses as they are now allowed to operate at 50 percent of the sitting capacity.
Speaking further, Mr. Aniagwu, said they are expected to fumigate their halls and observe all other Covid-19 protocols, warning that the use of face masks is compulsory.
While noting that the state would continue to monitor their activities, he said: “Anybody who contravene the protocol, necessary actions will be taken”.
On hotels, the state government said some of the eateries are now allowed for customers to eat, “But they must not allow buffet which allows everyone to use the same spoon to serve. We cannot guarantee that buffet will not increase the number of Covid-19”, adding that clubs and relaxation centres remain closed.
