The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has inspected a Primary Health care Centre located at Idumuje-Ugboko community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
While carrying out an on the spot assessment of the ongoing project, the leader of the ALGON delegation and immediate past Chairman of Isoko South Local Government of Delta State, Hon. Malik Itiako Ikpokpo thumbed up for the speed at which the project is being executed.
Ikpokpo who was Delta State ALGON Chairman at the time, commended Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko who attracted the project through the Paris Club Refund which accrued to the Local Governments in Nigeria, adding that one of such projects is located in every Local Government Area in Nigeria.
The former Chairman eulogized the sterling leadership qualities of Prince Ned Nwoko, whom he said not only rescued Nigeria from economic disaster as a result of the Paris Club Refund, but has also initiated the citing of Primary Healthcare Centre projects in the 774 Local Government Areas across Nigeria with the proceeds of the Paris Club Refund.
Hon. Itiako Malik expressed delight about the reality of the project and the pace at which it is going, thereby admonishing the contractor to expedite action on the project to ensure it is delivered on time and in line with stipulated standard and specification.
He however, noted that the team would return in two weeks to follow up with the project inspection.
Receiving the team on behalf of the Paris Club Refund Consultant, Prince Ned Nwoko, the SSA to the Governor on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko noted that the project which was conceived by Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko is to help enhance Primary HealthCare Service Delivery in the country, affirming that the people, especially the rural dwellers are in dire need of adequate health care services through the Primary Health Centres.
Nwoko averred that Primary Health Care is germaine to achieving universal health coverage for all, in the sense that it is accessible, affordable and effective.
Meanwhile, Mr. White who stood in for the contractor, Mathan, assured the team of their earnest desire to increase work speed so as to deliver the job in record time.
Other members of the ALGON team on the inspection are Mrs. Evans Enekwe (Director Legal), Mr. Venatus Okafor (HOD External and Internal Audit), Mr. Tony Enoh (Head IT) and Mr. Gerald Omezi (Admin Officer ALGON Delta).
