A fresh crisis has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of its National Convention, following a formal petition submitted by an aggrieved aspirant, Dagogo Fubara, to the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Fubara, who is contesting for the position of Zonal Vice Chairman (South-South), alleged deliberate obstruction by party officials after reportedly paying ₦5.1 million for nomination forms but being repeatedly denied access to them.
He warned that the delay could jeopardize his participation, noting that the documentation process requires several days to complete.
The controversy comes just days before the APC National Convention scheduled to hold on March 26 and 27 at Eagle Square, Abuja, intensifying concerns over internal party transparency and fairness.
In a related development, another aspirant, Oyiborume Paul Yovwe, also raised alarm over alleged irregularities, claiming he was denied an official receipt after paying ₦7.5 million for the National Secretary form.
He further alleged that the position had already been informally allocated.
Party officials, however, insist that the process remains guided by established zoning arrangements.
The APC maintains that the National Secretary position is zoned to the South-West, effectively disqualifying aspirants from other regions, including the South-South.
Amid mounting allegations of favoritism, limited form availability, and influence from powerful blocs, the party’s leadership has denied any wrongdoing, reiterating its commitment to fairness and due process.
The unfolding dispute has exposed deepening cracks within the APC, with divisions reportedly widening among key stakeholders ahead of the crucial convention.
