He said that the State Commissioner for Secondary and Basic Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, had continued to sanitize the education system through the introduction of key innovations and reforms.
The University Don said that curriculum review and development of scheme of work was apt in order to ensure standardization just as he advised teachers to maximize the benefits of the initiative in the area of it’s implementation.
Earlier Ukah, said that curriculum review and scheme of work development is geared towards enriching their contents in line with the modern trends for the benefits of the students.
Mr. Ukah made the disclosure in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, during a reception he organised for the participants and resource persons of the just concluded workshop on Curriculum Revision and Development of Schemes of Work.
While appreciating them for their contributions to the growth of the education sector, Mr. Ukah stated that he was overwhelmed by their professional input to the curriculum and scheme of work and urged them to always interface with his ministry on issues concerning the improvement of the education sector.
Mr. Ukah, who reiterated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration’s resolve to always accord priority attention to the education sector, noted that the sector was critical for the advancement of any society.
The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner disclosed that his ministry would soon carry out curriculum implementation and leadership workshop, adding that the Teachers Professional Development Centre, Owa-Oyibu, was designed to upgrade the capacity of teachers in the state.
