At a time when nowadays children and some adults are running away from skill acquisition to earn a meaningful living, a 12-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS 2), student of Oginibo Secondary School, Mr. Emmanuel Ufuoma, is presently engaged in building construction, locally known as “Bricklayer”, as his vocation aside his academic pursuit.
The Story, ran into Master Ufuoma, on Saturday November 27th 2021, at a church building construction site at Oginibo Ughelli south local government area of Delta State.
Master Ufuoma, disclosed that he has passion for building construction, revealing that he learnt the trade in six months and has been in the building construction business haven learnt from the site engineer.
“I have been doing this job in the last six months. The site engineer taught me because I have been following him. I like the work, and when I grow up aside my education, I will like to continue doing it.
“I am going to school and I am a JSS 2 Student of Oginibo Secondary School”.
Also speaking, Mr. Emuakpeje Solomon, Site Engineer II, commended little Master Ufuoma, for his doggedness, describing him as a willing learner.
“He is trying, his works are marvelous and he is willing and ready to work”.
He called on those roaming the street to engage themselves in ventures that would make them contribute meaningfully to the society.
“My little advise to our youths who are not ready to work is that, they should engage themselves in one meaningful activity or the other to improve their skills so that they would be relevant persons in the society”, Solomon, added.
